Alpha - Lost in space Devlog

We've implemented some sizable changes  on the back of player feedback from our Beta testing,

Most notably - The sprint mechanic is back! 

Playtesting highlighted that players wanted a less linear environment to explore, and that many found the platforming too restrictive and repetitive. In this update, we have introduced different terrains and landmarks  to the existing space.  As oxygen management is one of our primary mechanics, we needed to find a way for players to be able to explore every part of the level without the fear of losing the game for wandering too far afield. The sprint feature allows players to move faster, and reach the previous oxygen refill stations more easily!

Further design changes that were made based on player feedback:

  • We have reduced the amount of platforms, and made the environment more varied.
  • Slightly increased the UI transparency to help players see beneath them a little better. 
  • Added landmarks to help players place themselves in the world. 
  • Added space mines, which damage the players oxygen level if they hit them.
