Week 5 Devlog


Week 5 has finished up and we made some cool progress!

Rachel's part

I spent most of this week making many more models, including two planets, a meteor and a space mine. Next Wednesday we have our vertical splice due so we are getting our final things ready for that!

Lauren's Part

Our hopes for the vertical slice :

Hoping to have the beginning of our systems functional to showcase the planned game mechanics of collecting items, managing oxygen, platforming and exploring the game map.  Our level is one large sequence, where the player moves linearly through a designed path, exploring three different planets while they collect the parts needed to repair their ship and escape!

The movement mechanic is suitably "floaty" and playtesting has been positive that the controls feel good to play.The next step in our concentric development plan is to polish up the starting planet and implement the logic for collecting objects, before moving on to the platforming and environmental elements.
